Ann

Change Maker

Whilst working as a staff nurse on the coronary care unit at her local hospital, Ann became a widow and single parent to her 3-year-old son Elis, after her husband Ray, sustained a cardiac arrest whilst at work. His post-mortem confirmed he had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Ann continued to work within the cardiology speciality until she retired in 2013 and has been involved with Cardiomyopathy UK since 1997. She runs the South Wales support group and is a peer volunteer and fundraiser. Elis was also diagnosed with HCM, aged 22, and has an ICD. Ann is really looking forward to making a difference to everyone affected by cardiomyopathy with her involvement in the Change Maker project.
